The Norwegian Rugby Federation (Norges Rugbyforbund – NRF) is the sport’s national governing body in Norway and is a member of World Rugby and Rugby Europe.
Norwegian Rugby Federation
The Norwegian Rugby Federation is led by the federation board (forbundsstyret), elected at the federation assembly and serving as the federation’s highest governing body. Daily operations are carried out by the federation’s administration under the leadership of the General Secretary.
Rugby Clubs
The clubs constitute the local grassroots level in the sports organization. We have approximately 30 active clubs or teams in the federation, each playing a vital role in developing rugby at the community level throughout Norway.
Active Members
The Norwegian Rugby Federation has seen steady growth in membership over recent years. In 2017, we had 1,669 registered members, growing to 1,722 in 2018, with continued growth in participation through 2019 and beyond.
Norwegian Sports Federation
The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (NIF) is the supreme body in Norway’s largest popular movement, with over 2 million memberships. NIF’s vision is “sports joy for all” (idrettsglede for alle).
Special Districts
The Norwegian Rugby Federation currently has two special districts: Oslo Rugby District (Oslo Rugbykrets) and Hordaland Rugby District (Hordaland Rugbykrets). These districts administer rugby in their respective counties and conduct training initiatives.
